Statistics tell us that there are nearly 1,000,000 Mompreneurs in Canada and this number is growing at 7% a year.  70% of Mompreneurs are under the age of 40. 10% are in the 40-49 age bracket.  Family Business academics report an increase in the number of businesses which have been started by mothers and are now being transitioned to a family member.  This is an exciting achievement because it reflects the success of their businesses. 

 The second biggest group of Mompreneurs is over the age of 50 and they are growing at 4% a year.  They currently account for 20% of Mompreneurs in Canada.  This group’s numbers are expanding as other family members become more independent and women are finally able to pursue their own dreams.  Many of these Mompreneurs have already completed a career and now want to do what really interests them.  These entrepreneurs come to the market place with significant experiences, connections and capital.
