Learn How to Make Your Business Succeed

Wendelin Fraser, Dean of the Bissett School of Business at Mount Royal University is fiercely committed to helping entrepreneurs succeed. She has called upon outstanding entrepreneurs to help develop award-winning courses which will enable Mompreneurs (and others!) to build incredible businesses – both here in Canada and elsewhere in the world.

New Venture

Dean Fraser writes on the Bachelor of Applied Business and Entrepreneurship – New Venture website at Mount Royal University:

Unique in North America, this four year program supports you as you start your own venture while still in school. You can gain entrepreneurial experience in all aspects of small, medium and family business including:

•  Identifying and research business opportunities

•  Writing and presenting a business plan to potential investors

•  Business operations and management

•  Marketing and persuasive communications

•  Developing and managing an asset base.

Dean Fraser believes so strongly in this program that she has partnered with the Canadian Youth Business Foundation so that students are eligible for a loan (maximum $15,000) based on business plans and academic records – not credit ratings.

International Business

Another helpful program at MRU for Mompreneurs is the Bachelor of Applied Business and Entrepreneurship – International Business.

This four year course provides a unique combination of entrepreneurship, international trade and thepractical
experience you need to succeed in business ventures beyond Canada’s borders. Specifically, this means you will gain
experience in:

•  Importing and exporting

•  International finance

•  Global supply chain management

•  Market entry strategies

•  International trade law

•  International marketing.

Both these programs have earned national recognition as the ‘most innovative Applied Business and Entrepreneurship undergraduate degree’ from the Canadian Council of Small Business and Entrepreneurs.

This faculty includes many entrepreneurs who have launched and run successful businesses and who also serve as business coaches – and they have access to many others. Their extensive experience in obtaining venture capital allows them to assist students as they write their business plans and seek funding.

Dean Fraser is herself an award-winning academic, receiving accolades from academia and business groups as well as community groups. Some of these awards are from MRU students (some of the toughest critics!), Calgary’s Chamber of Commerce and Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship (ACE)…no doubt more will follow! With Dean Fraser’s superb leadership and the abundance of excellent resources, a Mount Royal University business student can’t help but succeed. And Mompreneurs will succeed gloriously!
